As some of your readers know, I've been the target of a campaign by Muslims to get me fired for a column I wrote about Islamic extremism in the US masquerading as moderation. They won't get what they want, but the mail I get, 99.9 percent of which is utterly unhinged from reality, provides an interesting window into the mind of at least some vocal Muslims. To them, any criticism of Islam -- any -- is bigotry. And any wrong that Muslims do is only in response to bigotry. I had a Muslim physician from Gainesville, FL call me on the phone two days ago, and tell me that yes, Osama was wrong to bring down the Twin Towers, but that it and other forms of Islamic terror are merely a response to "Jewish and Christian provocations." You know, like existing.
