The next Democratic Nominee?
George Neumayr on Howard Dean, who served on the board of Planned Parenthood, did an OB-GYN rotation for a PP clinic, but denies having performed abortions.
Surely Dean will at least take credit for abortion referrals. Recall his NARAL dinner speech last year where, in a attempt to score a debating point against parental notification laws, he described an occasion in his medical office where he lent a sympathetic ear to a 12-year-old who had been impregnated by her father. Under questioning from NBC's Tim Russert, Dean had to admit his incest story was bogus. The girl's father wasn't involved. Russert: "…when you told the story, you knew otherwise." Dean: "That's right." Russert: "Why didn't you say that?" Dean: "Because it didn't make any difference."(It would have made a difference for his argument. He needed the incest fabrication to punctuate the story with the line: "You explain that to the American people who think that parental notification is a good idea.")Such lies and schemes are familiar to Vermont pro-lifers. They are still shaking their heads over Dean's "Dr. Dynasaur" health care program which allowed low-income mothers to claim their unborn child for eligibility in the program, then gave them funds to abort the child.

» Do You Need More Reasons from Quiet Here
If you're not voting for Bush in '04, that's okay. I mean, I'll vote differently than you, but I never demanded that you vote the same way I do. All I'm asking is that you don't vote for Dean. Need... [Read More]

Tis a shame that both main parties in this nation are playing ping pong with the abortion issue.
And it is even worse that we Catholics and Christians have to watch this ridiculous show of "lookie lookie vote for me."
I know that I am going to "read the fine print" before pushing the voting button here in Florida this year. I am also going to review actions of both sides and all of the candidates before choosing.
But it may turn more ridiculous before all this is over. Stay tuned.

How on earth can Dr. Dean claim to have never done abortions? I remember being shocked when I first heard the background of the last Clinton nominee as Surgeon General, David Satcher. Although there was an initial attempt to hide the exact nature of his involvement in "reproductive health," it quickly became obvious that Dr. Satcher had done a substantial number of abortions. But it is amazing to think that we could be one year and fourteen days away from America's first abortionist president. The "slipperly slope" is looking more like a sheer drop.

I also find it nearly impossible to believe that a physician could do an ob-gyn rotation at a PP clinic and not have done an abortion. People don't got to PP clinics to deliver babies, they go to hospitals. They go to PP clinics kill them.
I guess it depends upon what Dean's defintion of abortion is.

Well, Jeanne, if the issue for you is abortion, there's not too much to review. The Dems and Dean enthusiastically support abortion. Bush and the Repubs try to limit it. Doesn't seem much like ping-pong to me; seems rather clear cut.

Dr. Dean should bear the nickname Dr.Death.

"I guess it depends upon what Dean's defintion of abortion is."
My guess is that it's similar to Clinton's definition of sex.

Perhaps this is the reason for locking up Dr. Dean's files??

The American Spectator web site has an interesting letter today referencing the article on Dean & abortions. The writer--one Peter Chagnon--states specifics about the two Planned Parenthood facilities in Vermont, and the extreme probability that Dr. Dean did abortions at one or both. To any pro-lifer inclined to accept the notion of a complete equivalence between the two political parties, I would ask for help completing a sentence. "As President, Howard Dean, MD would not commit abortions right there in the Oval Office because ____________." Speed bumps (e.g., he'd need a waiver from A DC license board first) need not apply.
