Blogging for Relief

Today, nearly 700 bloggers are taking up the charge and raising funds for relief, coordinated by N.Z. Bear . My charity of choice is Catholic Charities, but there's not a one on the list that's not worthy. We'll also be packing up some good used clothes and making a trip to Target to buy some packages of kids' underwear and such to send to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Baton Rouge. Reader (and now FW resident!) Yvonne said she spoke to them yesterday by phone and they are in need:

...they want and need childrens clothes/shoes

Addy is:
St Vincent DePaul Society
220 St Vincent DePaul Place
Baton Rouge, LA 70802

Also needed...
First Aid kit items.. Childrens Tylenol, bandaids etc..
Toiletries, blankets, pillows, towles, washcloths, hand soap, diapers

For another kind of in-kind donation, check here, hat tip Neil

Someone mentioned Harrison County, MS. Here's a page run by a procurement professional group containing announcements of needs from the area - if you're a business owner/vendor who can supply large numbers of supplies, this is one place to look to see what's needed in that area.

But whereever you give....give!

Just spoke with the folks in Baton Rouge. They can handle and desperately need shipments from around the country. Boxes should not be shipped, however, to the shelter address, listed above. Their warehouse is the place, and that address is: 1010 Nicholson Dr. Baton Rouge LA 70802.
