Joseph, Pope-ologist
After seeing the Pope at the Angelus for the first time, Sunday before last, Joseph concluded: "He's Batman!"
(You know...cape. Etc.)
After seeing the Pope come through the crowd at the General Audience last Wednesday, Joseph concluded about the Popemobile: "It's a Hot Wheels!"
Joseph, after seeing various depictions of Popes in the old tiara...
"Why is he wearing a pot on his head?"

Ah, Joseph will grow up to give Rocco a run for his money...

Sounds like it...
Amy, you have a lovely family, and I had the most enlightening conversation with Joseph
Zadok: Did you see the Pope?
Joseph: You have two heads.
Zadok: Do I?
Jospeh: Yes. You have two heads.
Zadok: Well, if I have two heads, you must have three heads.
Joseph: (Proudly) I have TEN heads.
I think I lost that argument.

Oh, Zadok.....I'm laughing and dying from embarrasment at the same time.

Well, let's see....
Stately manor?
Check.
Protector of a city?
Check.
Extremely intelligent and resourceful?
Check.
Strong sense of justice and duty?
Check.
Sneaks out at night to perform errands?
Check.
Admittedly, the cape is somewhat differently colored and styled, but hey, superheroes get redesigns all the time. And we don't know that there's a lack of ninja training in the Pope's background. I mean, it isn't like it'd come up in conversation.
The only serious objection is that infallibility in matters of dogma might well be considered a superpower, albeit a very subtle one. As we know, Batman never has superpowers, because he's just so good he doesn't need them. So perhaps the Pope was Batman only until he was elected Pope. I mean, who knows what error lurks in the theories of theologians? The Head of the CDF knows....
I have to admit, I'd rather work under the Pontiff than Bruce Wayne's alter ego. The one is a lot more forgiving of human weakness than the other.

Amy, (or someone else in the know...) we are getting ready to go to Rome in 3 weeks with a 4 year old and 2 year old. Will they let the kids in for the Pope's General Audience and did you have any problems with the kids during the audience? I am slightly afraid of my 2 year old having a two year old moment during the GA...

Can't speak to problems with kids during General Audience, but check out this link to see for yourself how children are treated at the GA:

LOL, Maureen! Over lunch I thought of a few more parallels between B16 and the Caped Crusader:
Easy access to caves?
Check.
Younger sidekick? (Ganschwein)
Check.
Faithful butler? (Surely, B16 has some household help)
Check.

There's a question here? Who has not heard of the Carmelingo?

Yeah, I forgot about the Cardinal Camerlengo! (Chamberlain)
Do the Swiss Guards count as equivalent to the Gotham PD?
