Oh, this will be interesting
We left Rome at 11:15 their time, which means we had been up since around 1 AM eastern. We finally got back to our house about 11:30 pm eastern - about 24 hours after we got up. Michael the Dad slept for a while on the plane from Rome to the US, both boys slept for about 2 hours each, then passed out on the plane from Philly to Cincy, and slept most of the car drive back.
It's now 5:16. I've gotten about 5 hours sleep in the past 24, most of them at home, interrupted by the wakeful baby, who obviously is ticked, having gotten to sleep in a bed with us for ten days, and now back in prison. But I'm wide awake. I just put the baby back in his bed, to find Joseph sitting up in his bed, wide awake, examining his calendar, and asking me if it's a new week yet. Forget it. I put Joseph in bed with Michael, and I'm down here blogging...after all, it's late morning according to the way I've been living...on a normal day, I would be on my fourth church of the day by now...oy.

Everytime we have come home from a European trip, I have had that same kind of re-adjustment--a few days ago I was walking in the Latin Quarter in Paris, or near St. Paul's in the City of London, or around the Borgo, etc. The other great adjustment is to how wide-open and spread out everything is at home, and driving my truck again, after a week or more of metros and walking narrow streets and pedestrian only neighborhoods. Thanks for all the good notes and insights. Whets my appetite for my next trip!
