Terri Schindler Schiavo's feeding tube was removed. She died 13 days later, on March 31.
Today, perhaps we could pray for all of the severly disabled in our midst, and pray for those who care for them. In gratitude for their lives, their strength, and their witness to the sanctity of life. And, if we sense the urgings of the Spirit on this score, pray for the courage ourselves to step in and help - to ease the burdens of those walking this challenging road of fidelity and love.

Amen.

We will never forget her, and we will not allow the world to forget her.

My husband and I and 3 friends made a pilgrimage from Palm Beach County to the Woodside Hospice in Clearwater last year to pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet for Terri, as did hundreds or maybe thousands from around the US. Most touching were the parents with extremely disabled children receiving food/hydration via a feeding tube. How they fear for the fate of their children - toddler to mid=30s, if they become wards of the state.
