After the Grail

....the "Aryan" Holy Grail

Heinrich Himmler, the head of the Nazi SS, made a secret wartime mission to an abbey in Spain in search of what he believed was the Aryan Holy Grail, a new book claims.

Himmler visited the famous Montserrat Abbey near Barcelona where he thought he would find the Grail which Jesus Christ was said to have used to consecrate the Last Supper.

According to The Desecrated Abbey, by Montserrat Rico Góngora, the Reichsführer-SS thought if he could lay claim to the Holy Grail it would help Germany win the war and give him supernatural powers.

The book claims that, far from being the King of the Jews, Himmler shared the outlandish belief with other leading Nazis that Jesus Christ was actually descended from Aryan stock.

Góngora writes that Himmler, Hitler's right-hand man, believed Jacob was of Aryan blood and his descendants, including Jesus Christ, were Aryan too.

Góngora has interviewed a former monk who was ordered by his superiors to greet Himmler during the visit in 1940.

So the first Indiana Jones movie was historically accurate after all!

Who knew we were watching a history lesson when we saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?

Posted by: whimsy at Feb 6, 2007 9:14:11 AM

Hardly. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade took place in 1938 and the Grail was in Turkey. Very shoddy historical research on that one. ;)

They chose poorly.

Himmler remodeled Wavelsberg Castle into a "Grail Castle" where SS officers would perform secret rites. Nobody knows exactly what they did, although human sacrifice has been alleged.

I'll go look up the recent book on how Himmler got cooperation from German academics to twist history, archaeology, and anthropology to suit his bizarre theories.

Hitler, Himmler et al believed that the Cup which held the Precious Blood of Our Lord would be a powerful weapon in their hands-the same hands which were drenched with the blood of Christ's brothers and sisters.

The book in question is THE MASTER PLAN by Heather Pringle. A scary read. Michael Wood did a TV documentary about some of the same material.

Himmler also had an obsession with Henry the Lion, 12th C Duke of Saxony, whom he used as a symbol German aggression against Slavs. He had Henry and his wife Matilda exhumed and put some of their bones into garish Nazi reliquaries made of amethyst and malachite.

Himmler wasn't alone. A great many years ago, a series of documentaries called The Occult History of the Third Reich described this and other occult influences on National Socialism. Very interesting if you can find it.

The SS was so New Age...

"The SS was so New Age..."

And ecologically minded. They loved plants and animals, it was only most of humanity they hated.

The relationship between the Nationalists in Spain and the Nazis during WWII was fascinating. Although Spain was somewhat pro-Axis for the first half of the war, think of the Azul Division of volunteers fighing on the Eastern front, Germans, probably due to the comtempt that many of them had for Spaniards in general, were never popular in Spain, and many of Franco's generals and government officials did little to hide their pro-Allied views. Forty thousand jewish refugees were allowed transit through Spain during the war, and Spain looked the other way in regard to various Allied intelligence operations run out of Spain. Wartime Mission to Spain by Carlton Hayes, published in 1945, gives an insightful look at Spain during the war years. Hayes, a Catholic convert, was US ambassador to Spain from 42-45.

Next thing you know we'll find out that the Nazis were looking for the Lost Ark of the Covenant!

Why not, they were searching for the Spear of Destiny?
